The pancreas is a gland that secretes a variety of hormones, one of the most important ones is known as insulin.
The pancreas can suffer from various diseases; the most common ones are due to the presence of lithos (stones) in the bile duct or due to the chronic consumption of alcohol. When one develops severe pancreatitis, a surgical intervention may be required.
The pancreas can develop both benign and malignant tumors, which can sometimes be cured through surgery.
